Framebuilders - Nervous in the service
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I just sent a 90% deposit on a custom frame. And I am very nervous,
even better, I get to stay that way for months.
Ever see a bike with the Liquid Crystal Burnt Orange color? I was thinking about trying that, it reminds me a bit of a color Schwinn used
a long time ago.
I was also thinking of having the bike's name painted on, Randy Noir.

This is unusual!

That is an odd deposit amount- on the bright side though, orange is the fastest color!
I'm retiring this year, got the money now, prob won't have it later.
The bike will be lugged, and I was thinking of using a contrasting color or chrome
on the lugs.
Do you think black would work? I like what Rivendell does, like their use of cream colored lugs, but
don't think it would work with such a strong color.
But I suspect black would break the visual flow. making the frame seem like a collection of tubes instead of a whole.
Btw, the frame is a lightly modified randonneur design. Randy Noir...

You need a custom frame considering your fitness level.
What company and what steel did you opt for?
You named your bike?

Paint it school bus yellow :)
Orange and Navy Blue accents.

That name is absolutely awesome!
Personally, I would go with chrome lugs if the orange is like I'm thinking it is. Do you have a sample picture of the color?

Oh that Trekjapan is such a funny kidder.
I know who the builder is late.
It's a Gunnar.
Orange Glow over Sterling Silver.
You'll be quite a sight on that!
I bet you've been buying parts for awhile getting ready for the build.
What are you going to use?
Sram Red?Dura Ace???
A custom build you must have a nice gruppo put together.
You deserve it for those awesome endurance rides you go on.
Is your retirement health related??
