I have been riding Wal-Mart bike for several years and I finally got a real bike (Fuji newest 3.0 2010). Iíve always dreamed of doing a long distance ride but I never had the time to. Now I am starting college next year and I am thinking biking back home for spring break. From Laurel, MD to Richmond, VA approximately 150 miles according to Google maps for bikes. Any suggestions on training? I currently ride 15 miles day after school and 24 on Saturday. I am increasing distance at 10% a week. Also what kind of supplies would I need for such a ride?

I'd bring 2 tubes and CO2s. Bring some money for food and drinks along the way and just pace yourself

So completely do able? would it be possible in one day with my current level of training?

15 miles a day and 24 miles on Saturday doesn't tell us much about your current level of training or fitness. There is a big difference between 24 miles and 150 miles. If you can get through 80% of your target goal you should be able to do it. Stay fueled and hydrated. Do a 50mi soonish and follow up with 75mi the following day or weekend. A 100mi ride should give you a pretty good idea of what you need to do to get to 150mi.

I rode 151 miles in about 8hrs last weekend. It's easily doable if you are in the right condition. I'd go out on a weekend and give a century a shot. You might want to check outthe route before you do it. Between Laurel, MD to Richmond, VA there are a lot of hills if I remember correctly. That could slow you down and make the ride mush harder.

Is the bike I have good for that ride with stock everything? How much water and power bars would I need?

I would do several 75 mile days before trying 150 miles. Issues such as hydration, nutrition and bike fit tend to emerge after 50 miles.
Sort out these needs before riding 150 miles.

I would get good lights and reflective leg bands and a vest.

It will be a horrible 150mile ride if you're not sorted away... try to work up to a 100mile ride at least two weeks before. As per the amount of water you have to carry it's gonna depend how hot it is out and distances between service stations... leave as early as possible and bring lights as suggested above.
