Today at the shop, a woman came in with a bike she pulled out of the bin at the junkyard. She was one of those ladies who is probably a hoarder at home, but she thought one of us at the shop would like it. I don't know squat about BMX's, our shop is mostly road and mtb, but I took it off her hands since it was free. Cleaned up the chrome, rebuilt the wheels, rebuilt the hs, rebuilt the bb. It is an S&M Dirtbike, olive green. Chrome S&M Slam Bars and Pitchfork. I don't know the cranks, but they resemble Profile cranks (I am familiar with those), but they aren't profiles. GT chainring, which looks cheap. Odyssey seat, Suzue Peregrine 48 hubs and rims... What should I know about this bike?

The wheels, sprocket, and possibly the stem (could be wrong but it doesnt look to great) look to be garbage, i could be wrong, but im fairly confident I'm not. The frame, bars, and fork however were a very good find. S&M is a highly reputable company and those are most definatly good quality parts, they look like they may be a little on the older side, but still very nice. The Crank could be good or bad depending on what it is. Are they odyssey? Good find.

Wow! That's pretty sweet bike, for free. I'm surprised that somebody went to the extra expense of chrome wheels, on a bike that doesn't have any brakes.

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if those cranks were made by Profile. They make the cranks for a lot of the other brands. They're also the most copied cranks in freestyle. Personally, I prefer something with pinch bolts.

Kind of odd. It's clearly an older frame, but it's set up like the current trend, slammed seat and no brakes!

The brakeless thing started in the mid 90s. You can just make out a U-brake mount on that one's chainstay. Slamming the seat can be done on any bike. Judging by the seat guts on that one, it's even got an old 7/8" seat post.

Looks to be a pretty good build, all the way around. I'd throw some brakes on it, raise the seat, and have some fun beating the hell out of it.
