Whats up Texas riders!!-my name is Alvin and I'm just dropping by to say hi, I'm the new guy! Great website here and pretty active!
A Little info on me:
I'm a U.S. Navy Veteran living in Allen, TX. Been riding bicycles my entire life. Just recently got into road cycling in March and now I'm totally addicted lol.
Been riding a minimum of 40 miles per week...commute to work once per week (32 miles round trip), do laps at White Rock once in a while, Tour Allen/Lucas area solo a lot....Had a blast at the WildRide, and registered for the Collin Classic 100k!
I'm riding a Specialized Roubaix Elite at the moment-but here's a shot of my fleet LOL:

Howdy, welcome to Dallas! When you're looping around White Rock don't forget the hills (it took me a few weeks before anyone told me about them...) Loving -> Shook -> Westshore -> Winstead They'll make the trip to the lake a little more worthwhile.
Enjoy the ride,
Shelley

definitly been on those hills! they're fun! :):)
Fellow Allen resident here. I'm sure we've probably crossed paths out on the road at some point in the last year or so since I moved into Allen. There's a neighborhood just north of Stacey, just to the East of Angel that has some very short hills but can still get the legs burning that are a lot closer than White Rock. Also down at the end of Snider Rd in Lucus is a short steep climb.
And on this Memorial Day weekend, want to extend my thanks for having served our country.

Hey thanks for that tip! I've been exploring the entire Allen/Parker/Lucas area for decent hills to interval on! I've been down Snider Rd! Those hills are nice! It's exactly 10 miles one way from my house to the boat dock down there on the end of Snider...so I'm always out on that path cycling 20 miles. I stay in the neighborhood across from the Bethany Lakes Park...maybe we'll bump into one another sometime!
Oh another spot i like is the straightaway on Angel Pkwy. just North of Exchange....no traffic lights or stop signs for a mile and flat....Nice spot to work on speed intervals!!

Welcome. I'm also in Allen, live just south of Lovejoy elementary. Ride on Saturday mornings, sometimes by myself, sometimes with one or 2 others. I can show you a few very nice hills, great for interval training.

Anyone wanting to join us is welcome. 8am, Celebration Park in Allen, TX by the water fountain/bathroom pavillion.
I'll have to join another day perhaps. I've promised to make an appearance on the Distance Builders 2 ride with the PBA on Saturday morning. It has been too long since we've crossed paths pathdoc. If we finally get a break from the heat early next week perhaps an evening ride?

Man, Armenian you are one strong rider. Warn me next time, would ya. :)
I'd love to see an Allen cycling club. I even have a name and theme. CCCP. Collin County Cycling Project. Red jersey with a psuedo russian star.
Jersey would say something like, "Team Red"

Which route did you take? You didn't go on that horrible gravel road that goes behind the McKinney airport, did you?
pathdoc

No gravel roads for me. I'll double check the names of the roads. Went down Orr (sp?), ended up right a McKinney airport (Lowery Crossing Rd, I think) turned onto 325 and looped back onto Orr. Would have stayed on Lowery Crossing Rd till it ends at a T near Lavon but was running really tight on time and my ride buddy was kicking my butt. :)

This was as close to the route we took that i could make....google maps isn't exactly finished with a few roads...but most of this route is accurate:

LOL! Help me find a cycling jersey with a squid on it, and I WILL wear it proud!
Sounds like we're on the same page-I'm in on some intervals! Are you doing the Collin Classic tomorrow??

Not officially. We train on those exact same roads at the same time they're rolling, so we may get mixed in at some point. Depends on whether our team ride is on or off, haven't heard at this point. With Bike The Bricks, Mineral Wells, and the OKC crits this weekend, it's a real mess. Teammates all over the place.

hello everyone. I also live in Allen, Tx, and just recently have bought a bike to ride. I bike to the train station in Plano from Allen Monday thru Friday, take the train to work in deep Ellum, then take the train back to Plano, and ride home to Allen. This averages around 70 miles a week out of necessity, not enjoyment ( vehicle broke down ). I too wish there was a club in Allen, Tx. I'd like to say hi to my fellow Allen resident who is a Navy vet, I too am veteran ( Army & Air force ). I ride a Schwinn Fastrac ( Red ).
