Finally got a ride!!! :D Picked up a new Felt S22 which I love love love love love love love. I've had it all of about 6 days, riding everyday, and noticed about the 3rd day, something was majorly amiss. My shifts were missing, and clanky, or doubling up. WTF!!! So we adjusted deraileurs, and tweaked pieces to no avail. I finally called the shop and told them my dilemma.

I forgot to mention, I'm in the sticks in Mississippi, and the choices for bike shops are poor at best, so I was forced to drive the 2.5 hours to the shop that ordered it for me.

After leaving it for a couple of hours, and returning, my mechanic said," Well........ I've got good news, and I've got bad news." My front deraileur hanger was cracked. AHHHHH! Good news, I get a new bike. So for now, my ride is sans front deraileur, so I'll just have to pedal harder.....

Anybody ever had this problem?

It may not be your problem, but sometimes new cables tend to stretch a little after some use. During installation, cables should be prestressed to prevent as much stretch as possible, but there is always a little stretch left, and this goes away after about 200-300 miles of break-in riding, and readjustment.

I know there's always some "breaking in" that occurs, but is a cracked front hanger a common thing, or is it an anomoly? I'm a big guy 6'4 225... So is this going to be a common thing? Felt's sending me a new frame, but I don't want to experience this often, if ya know whum Im sayin'...

One of the guys I mtn bike with is 6'6" and 200 lbs, and he broke an XTR derailleur. It was actually the cage that broke.

I've never heard of a FD hanger breaking b4 though.
