I used to ride an Origin8 uno and loved it, now I'm on a Swobo Del Norte and its a great smooth ride, but is less agile, and feels like I get less power than the Origin8. I would really like to build myself a new bike similar to the uno (or just buy another Uno if I must), but figured there is probably a cheaper alternative out there.

I don't mind buying something with mediocre components as long as the frame is solid and I can rebuild over time. Looking to spend less than $400 or so.

So recommend me an alternative!

Thanks :D

Well it could just be your friends gear ratio or seating position set up....

Why even downgrade while you have the money to upgrade your swobo?

I'm riding the same gear ratio that I was before. The tires have gone from 23mm or 26mm to 32mm so maybe that is an issue but really my positioning on each bike feels different. I don't find the del norte disagreeable for cruising but when I want to blow off steam I want something fast and agile.

What do you mean that it is not as agile?
Speed is up to you since you have the same ratio and larger tires.
The geometry of the bike is pretty similar, maybe the Swobo has a longer stem which will affect the way the bike feels.
All of these is probably all in your head, thinking that you're not as fast as before.

In regards to the more agile, I feel that I was able to corner better, and that I was just in a more compact position. I think the del Norte forces me to sit more upright which is a large part of the problem. Maybe I could adjust the head set to make it more natural to ride in the drops?
