I have been surfing around for Crosstrail on craigslist and found one, but the seller seems very odd.

I e-mail him last night, no reply, I e-mailed him late morning today no reply, used a different e-mail after lunch, got a reply. We have been back and forth with Q's and A's, but he is very vauge and will not give me much info. also picture on his ad was so burry, i had hard time making out the color.

only info I have is: he is 5'9" and he thinks the bike size is 53, bike is grey and black, he bought it for $650 late fall 2008

other than that, it's easier to pull teeth than to get answers. I a meetng him in about an hour...why do I get a creepy feelng?

I have bought and sold a lot of stuff on Craigslist and I think it is a great marketplace. However, there are a ton of sketchy folks selling a lot of questionable stuff. It's usually easy to tell from the item listing, email and location if the person is sketchy, and my general policy is to transact only with people who appear completely legit. In practice this ends up being people who live in or near my neighborhood who are selling stuff that they personally used.

I met the owner, test rode the bike and brought it home. Bike looks pretty new with minor scratches. Bike is too large for me but I bought it more for parts.

That's an awful nice looking bike to buy for parts.

It’s heavier and sluggish than I remember test riding at LBS :(

Just stop it mike, just stop.

only probem with quick is the oversized head tube. "lefty ready" they call it. I think I need to drop by another LBS to see how they can fit me more upright. :D

Norboo,

Don't be so paranoid over the head tube. What are the odds of having a problem with it?

I think you'll have a hard time finding a more upright fit that is still fast and comfortable, with a lockout. I've been looking for years.

And to re-iterate...
The Quick CX Ultra is lighter and faster. As purchased my Quick was 26 pounds. My Crosstrail is 31 pounds.

And it's not just about the weight. The Quick geometry is faster, the wheels and tires are faster, etc...

This ad cracked me up

Brooks imperial standard saddle barely used

Used for only three rides, less than 30 miles on it. Cutout allows for blood flow in your junk. SAVE THE BABIES!
