+1 on VeloMine.
I think white or silver might look good.
Not quite sure about silver though.

hot bike. invest in a steerer tube cut (:.
but believe me, pick a color you'll use for a while. antifrost green might seem cool at first but after a month you'll be wanting to upgrade again.
stay safe. go with silver/ti grey

rrrrreally, i didn't even consider silver, but now i definitely will. thanks, thanks.
also, yes about that steer tube....maybe i should start another thread but whatever. so i was about to start cutting it, when i realized that i needed to cut below where the headset screw goes into. so i didn't know what to do, and i was just going to take into my lbs. unless you wizards can enlighten me or link me somewhere useful.
yea it's a kilo :)

Classy.
I saw two of those all single colour SS/FG bikes yesterday.
one was yellow and the other was white.
don't do it, don't match your rim colour to your frame colour!
It screams "I'm boring!" and "I don't have any colour coordination sense!"

that's a star nut. just hammer it in deeper (but not too deep) and then cut. it's made to go further down without ever coming up.

i don't necessarily agree with that. i've been riding the same set of pink deep v's for 6 years now. not everyone is going to have the same response to bold colors.

Eh... If it's high enough, I'd cut first, then hammer it in to exactly the right depth.
EDIT for clarity: I was trying to avoid it being accidently cut into, or hammered too low. So I would leave it in the peice you are cutting off. Then I'd push it out of that, and install as you normally would into the fork steerer. I prefer to put them in using the top cap screw so it's the perfect depth.

This is pretty bunk advice. What if where your cutting is below where the starnut sits now?
Hammer it down, then cut. If you need to tap it down a little further after cutting, do just that.
silver silver silver! wait, it's been suggested? mm...... silver.

Lime green rear, pink front FTW.

pink is actually not that bad of a suggestion. If you don't want to be so bold, go silver. White is always fugly, IMO
pink would make it look like... rocket Popsicle.

white in back, silver up front :D
i think it could look cool...im not normally for mismatched rims, but white and silver are not super conflicting/contrasting. its just i was looking at my friend's bike, he has white deep v's and the front is machined for brakes, and i was thinking i really liked the looks of the back rim being solid white and the front having the strip of silver from the machining....and then i thought a white back wheel with a front silver wheel could look really good together.
btw there is both normal silver and bright silver....and TI gray.

is bright silver like polished, or is it still just a metallic silver?
Get white if you want a white saddle, otherwise stick with silver. Blue will be a different shade (more than likely)... could look funky.
sidenote:
I generally think of white and silver/chrome like red and orange... too close in color.
I would get a neutral color.
I even think Brown/ Copper would look good on it. Its such a clean looking frame you can't go wrong with any color u choose.
But I would save the crazy colorways for the grips/tries you swap those every 4-6 months..
Seat and Wheels will be on your bike for years, so don't get anything that'll be an eyesore later!

can you tell me the difference between http://www.velomine.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=108&products_id=396&zenid=tansda5qb0q9p04del02osppa5 and http://www.velomine.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=108&products_id=397 please. i assume the more expensive one just comes with sealed hubs?
Squirrelli
06-02-10, 08:13 PM
They are both sealed bearing hubs, the cheaper one comes with machined walls(note the different in colours at the edge of the rim), machined walls allow the use of brake. Not that you can't use brakes on the non-machined ones but paint will wear off and your brake pads might glaze.

Right?
I would get my fork threaded and get track drops if i had that color frame to go for the classic track look.

The first ones are silver, the second are polished. (besides the MSW are different as well)

Go with polished silver
All the other components are silver. Go with silver. It reflects surroundings, so it's about as neutral as you're gonna get. ;)
