So I went camping a couple days ago and I have a few random bumps on my legs and arms. Some are itchy and others not. It doesn't look like a rash since the bumps are pretty spread out. It has been 3 days since I've been home. I stayed away from plants that I didn't like the looks of so I'm not sure.

Chiggers if you were in a grassy area or Sand Fleas, if you were in the desert or a sandy area. A soapy scrub will kill them.

I had to laugh when Rowan read this one to me ... fuzzbox, have you really never been bitten by a mosquito before??? I step outside and I collect "random bumps" all over my body. Mosquitoes LOVE me. I must have great tasting blood or something.

The most I've ever had was during a time I camped in the Northwest Territories when I was in my mid-teens. There were 30-40 on each ankle (my ankles were unrecognisable), and probably about that number scattered elsewhere all over my body for a total of something in the neighbourhood of 100 bites. More recently, I went for a ride in Alberta and was swarmed. Mosquitoes are attracted to dark colours ... and my shorts were black ... and I counted something in the neighbourhood of 50 bites everywhere my black cycling shorts covered. I could hardly sit down the next couple days. Generally, during the summer I constantly live with 20 or 30 bites in various stages of development or healing ... mainly on my feet, ankles, and butt.

I know mosquito bites well enough to cancel them out. Chigger bites look to gnarly but there is a possibilty it was sand fleas.

Fruit eaten with a sticker on it. Prepare for a lingering, yet horrible death.

You can get poison ivy in more ways than rolling nude in a bunch of leaves, you could have picked up the oil in many different ways. I always avoid the plants themselves, then get it from hugging my dog.

Oh, they are a great joy. Feels about the same as fire ants but doesn't leave the little white blisters.

Oh, they are a great joy. Feels about the same as fire ants but doesn't leave the little white blisters.I was doing my best George W Bush impression earlier this spring, clearing brush, and I got a spot of it on my shoulder. You could tell where the plant touched me, because it was just a streak. Well, all around the streak it was comparable to the worst case I've ever had, but on the streak itself you could literally see my dermis through it after a couple of days. It was crazy.



Pro-tip: The first thing you want to do is remove that freakin' oil. Take a scalding-hot shower, (sounds terrible but you will have orgasms when the super-hot water touches the afflicted area, it's one of the few ways to relieve it without scratching,) and use something like Dawn dishwashing liquid to soak up that oil. Then, put some Calamine lotion over it, and if it's bad enough, a bandage over that. The clay in the calamine and the bandage fabric will help soak up the oil you may have missed, (the stuff bonds with human flesh like CRAZY.)


I guess my shoulder had so much concentrated oil on it that my feet ended up breaking out a few days later, from the oil washing off my shoulder.

I did have a dog with me but I'm pretty sure if I had poison ivy or oak I'd have a bad rash since it has been 4 days of being back. I didn't really see any poison ivy up there but I'm sure I saw poison oak and maybe sumac.
