Since Petacchi suffered yesterday (as did many), I'm going with O'Grady on this stage.

Valverde
O'Grady
Menchov
Freire
Valverde's the real thing. They guy can sprint and climb. Reminds me of Cunego. He needs to get himself out of Spain more often though.

Hopefully Valverde will find a Pro Tour team next year. It would be great to see him show his stuff in more big races.
Valverde is the man. My original picks for the Vuelta were Vino in 1st, then Valverde and Hamilton. Now I'm thinking about putting Valverde in 1st.. his form is, quite obviously, still excellent.

If the Vuelta gave time bonuses for stage winners, I would be sure to pick Valverde
I'd say he will get at least 3 stage wins.
I can't imagine him not taking a mountaintop sprint or two (and he already took a hilltop, I'm guessing)

Sounds like a wicked finish to catch the break. I wish cyclingnews.com would give the occasional speed that the peloton is riding at in the live report. I'd really like to know just how fast they were riding in the last 40km just before catching the break.
Valverde vs Cunego for best uphill sprinter...
please, Cycling Gods, make this showdown happen!
A recap of one of Valverde's best wins at the age of 23 in last years Vuelta:

I got my wish (see my post in the Stage Two thread). Benoit Joachim became the first Luxembourger to wear the Vuelta's golden jersey.
Anyone have more details about this?
