is that a crazy price? Seems to be high. I believe that was tange tubing. Ive got that option this week and i also see someone just posted a 89 or so Giro on the auction site with SLX tubing starting at 300 bucks.

both are the 53cm im looking for :)

Doesn't matter what an auction starts at, its all about the ending price. I usually start auctions at 99 cents just to get interest.

$225 is not a crazy price for the Bianchi if the bike is clean and ready to ride.

any pics? black or new rose? this was a really great bike. it was the bike that rekindled my love of cycling and started my devotion to Bianchis.

if this is, as work101 says clean and ready to ride it sounds like a good deal. while the frame may be a Tange frame it is built with a SuperSet design to make the BB area stiffer. I also believe the Brava used the same frameset that year although the catalog does not give a tubing model it just says Tange. the Suze hubs with those Aray20 rims were nice wheels. if there was a clean superlow mileage one my size near me I would have a hard time turning it down for 225. I have seen lesser models listed for twice that.

also that model did come in a 17.5 w/24" front wheel that year.

+1 Lousy pictures, but that can help keep the bike available until you get there. Great pictures tend to sell bikes quick.

Pretty much any brand, upper entry, or lower mid level road bike with Tange tubing, like Tange 900 and index shifters is going to go for around $200. It's a benchmark. An up scale brand like a Bianchi, even one from Asia, is going to go for more. $225 is a reasonable price. If you can grab it for less, that's better. If you've been looking for a while, then you know nice steel, ready to ride in your size can be hard to find.

done. I ended up getting it at 200. IT seems to fit me dang near perfect. The frame has rub marks here and there and a bit of rust around one eyelet on the top tube from sweat. Other than that everything works. It needs a dang good cleaning and going over but it rides great and is lighter than i expected. The frame doesnt have alot of the features of the one i currently have but that one is much too big so who cares. Once it is cleaned up ill post some pics.

The componets are as follows

diacompe x5000 levers/calipers
sugino crank
suntour x5000? group
Michlean rear tire and generic Sarafas? newer front tire
Araya 700c rims with sansin hubs (which i have been told are great hubs).
MKS pedals with sakae toe clips and a set of old crusty detta leather shoes :)

Ive probably got some of that wrong :) The guy said everything was pretty close to orginal on the bike.

im going to ride it this way for a while and see how it goes. It appears to shift and ride pretty good.

i dont know if it would be worth swaping over to my shimano 600 headset, campy wheels, campy veloce crank, shimano sti shifters etc.
Also ...i need to measure the rear stays. My current ride with the stis has 8 gears in the back and the new one only has 6. The stis may not work after all.

I may just use this bike in the interim while i continue the search. All in all for 200 bucks i thought i did pretty good. Finally got a bike that fits...and that feels pretty good in itself :)

Congrats!!!

the components are alpha 5000. They use the Greek letter alpha, but in a lot of cases it looks like and X in the logos.

Enjoy the bike!

Congrats!! as I said before that is a great bike. I still have mine, although everything but the HS and seatpost has been changed. thanks to "E" I have enough stuff to almost restore it to original condition.

well i have the sansin alpha 5000 hubs which i think were stock on this bike. The front was fine but when i pulled apart the rears there was pitting on both cones. I know the old sansin cones are hard to find.......im hoping that late 80s isnt considered old and my lbs still has parts. I wont know anything until tomorrow......everything is closed around here now that it is sunday.

well..still nothing. I cant find the proper cones. I got some from the lbs today but they are the wrong length and the bearing face to me looks a bit different. I could probably use a different combination of spacers and get by somehow but im not 100% sure.

and the hunt continues.....
