Looking at the paul crankset, love the squareyness of the crank arms, wish there was a 48 in the round ring, not the royal flush (kinda conflicted about that one) sooooooooo I'm hunting a set of something square/carved/chunky kinda vibe (black of course) that'll go up to 47 at least.
Or is it Sugino 75s and be done with it? There must be something else out there no?
Thanks

I got these in black on my bike. They arent $200+ cranks, but they're square and black.

Sugino 75.
Beautiful engineering and beautifully finished.
Get the Sugino loose ball bottom bracket.

Mmm, that Zeus is perdy darn tasty, def. hitting my square/machined buttons. Doubtless pricy, rare and not in all-black?
Sugino Messenger looks bad ass

I have black White Industries ENO cranks (http://www.whiteind.com/cranks/singlespeedcranks.html), and I like 'em alright. Definitely chunky and tough. (just like me, except for the chunky part). And their chainrings are awesome.

Yeah the WI stuff def. has the bad-assery covered. Just mailed them to see if there's a way I can build a ss 46 or 48 t in black.
Thanks y'all
blackspire. they make DH and FR stuff so it's burly as hell.
the cranks aren't exactly what you're looking for but the chainrings are cooool

I second the Miche Crankset. Though if you've got the $$, 75 cranks with a standard 75 ring.

Thanks so much for all the ideas, really helped me slow down and not just hit the first 'buy' button I saw. Thinking about it and looking at Sheldon's gear calculator made me realise I can totally get the White Industries ENO in a 44 and drop my rear from 17 to 15 or even 14 and get a little more push than I do now. Don't know why I was so hung up on going bigger than the 47 I ride on the front now when what I really want is a new crankset in a slightly higher gear, period.

Love our logic, and admire your ability to slow down and wait!
You're going to like the ENO. I ride 38-13 with my ENO, and dig it.
