I realize this is awful of me but I can't recall if the Record group on my MegaProXLTi is '99 or 2000 but I am not sure it makes a difference for this.

the BB is need of replacement which is annoying because I am certain there is no more than 2000 mi on the bike. the only marking I see on the back of the cranks are 2/8 on both and 2/1 on the driveside and 1/1 on the non. according to the '99 parts catalog the spindle lenght is 102, however in typical Campi style there is no mention of taper.

IIRC in '95/96ish Campi switched to JIS taper correct? since this BB did not seem to last very long I was considering using the VO Grand Cru BB for 1/3 the price. or maybe Phil Wood.

I have not taken it apart yet but judging from the pics it appears there is no way to replace the bearings like the first Campi cartridge BB right?

Campy was always ISO taper. I would just order a replacement from Branford.

You need an ISO tapered BB. A Campy Chorus BB would be what you need if it's a 102mm. I've seen these deals from the UK, free US shipping .

But, they're still disposable.

If you want it to last forever though, get a Phil Wood. Lickton's offers a great price, you still need cups and the tools. . .about $145 total. http://www.lickbike.com/productpage.aspx?PART_NUM_SUB=%270155-02%27

I am just a bit more confused now after reading this.

LickNotes: ISO taper is for post 1993 Campagnolo and other specific cranks. JIS is for 1993 and earlier Campagnolo, Shimano and most other cranks. See your manufacturer's information for details.

I'll just get the chorus and be done wth it.
