Folding Bikes - my head is about to explode

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I need some insight on folding bikes, I have searched all over the net been to bike shops. And I am now more confused then ever. I used to ride a bike all the time but due to knee issues had to give it up, but now have a new knee and ready to get back out there. What I am looking for is a folding bike we can throw in the back of the car and take to the beach or throw in the rv to ride around the park or a little off road not major off roading. I will be needing to buy two bikes. I think I have narrowed it down to the Downtube fh8 (8 full suspension). I just don't know if it is strong enough. Also I like the citizen gothom2 but heard really bad things about them on another forum. Any insite would really be appreciated.
For the usage you describe, the Downtube should be just about perfect.

I rode my Ex's IX FS yesterday , had a trail of teenagers goggling at it saying 'Wow - cool bike' . Took it down to the beach and trundled around the bike paths and grassy dunes for 16 miles. Very smooth riding, those Downtubes.
Ex takes Downtube to shops today. Passing cyclist screeches to stop to admire it and begs a ride. Said he was going 'straight online to get one.'
Buy a lock :-)

That's a great price! :thumb: My yellow Citi is the helmet I wear most of the time. I also have a white Metro with a "winter" kit for cold days. :)
