Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - is this right?

so i rushed to buy this bike and i now am looking at it and thinking its not right. Does anyone know? It is a maauishi the crank seatpost and stem are all original im pretty sure but the back end is wierd. Maybe its just me but not much on the net for older ones as in pics to check. Not sure if its bent or thats how they are saposed to be. Please let me know.

Except for the missing brake and the annoying colour coordination I see absolutely nothing wrong with the bike. Does it feel strange when you're riding it (assuming you do)?

That is probably how its supposed to be. Many companies put in small eccentricities like that to differentiate their frames from standard geometry frames.

If it was bent by accident the bike would be in a much different state.

rode it home from work tonight. I spent some time in the parking lot first. It rides really nice. Believe me when i say this i plan on putting a break on the front right away. This is my first fixie. I spent 200 dollars on it total so far. Their just seems to be a slight dip in the backend ,however My room-mate even commented that it does look really uniform on both sides. It is right where the back break would be on both rails. Most of these bikes of this manufacturer i have looked at dont have this. They go strait down. Thats what made me start to think. From my days from mountian bikin i always herd that if a frame is bent it would weakin the whole structure.

If the seat stays bent, the the chainstays would as well, at their weakest point, which would not be where they are welded to the bottom bracket cup, so unless the chainstays look bent/crooked as well, I think you're fine.

and since it's symmetrical, unless it rides weird, u're fine.

So i took it to the neighborhood fixie shop and he said that it is how the frame was made back then. Big mistake to go in that shop though their is sooo much i can do to this bike. Ended up spending another 13 dollars to get the old reflector thing taken off, and a spacer put in. I want a new crank now but am undecided because the crank is maruishi original. Thanks for all the replys!

There is no end to what you can and want to do. For now, just ride as much as you can and laugh out loud. Congratulations and welcome to a whole new world.

chain looks slack with your wheel all the way into the drop out. Maybe remove a link and try again
