Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I've been doing searches and was just wondering what the thoughts were on the following bikes. I'm looking for a complete. While I would love to say I'll be on the track, the closest velodrome is 2 hours away. So the reality is I'll be doing road rides and then some local group rides. I figure I'll end up upgrading the bars (I do like the track drop bars and probably better tires. I'd like to stay below $1000, for sure. Spent my budget on my XC race bike. So, here's what I'm looking at: 1) Bianchi Pista - actually the Pista Von Conditto as I love the classic Bianchi look, but if it's not worth the extra, tell me, 2) Trek T1, and 3) the Jamis Sputnik. I'm not a big fan of the Specialized Langster (I saw an '07 with the less sloping toptube and Sugino75 track cranks that I liked - but not for sale) but if I'm missing something there, again, say so. Just looking for advice from some guys with experience.
Thanks much!

Get the Sputnik. Better steel than the pista, and the trek is going to rattle the fillings out of your teeth.

T1 is my favorite of the three.

Jamis Sputnik. The T1 is the prettiest, but also the least suited for the street. The Sputnik will serve you best from a utilitarian perspective.
