Introductions - Hello from NYC

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I used to bike and took a 3 year break. Recently my wife expressed interest and now we are both getting into it.
We live in NYC and I was surprised looking at a map of bike friendly areas/parks and also Greenways.
My only regret is to not have started earlier this year.. I guess I will be doing some reading in the riding in winter forum.

I was nowhere near the convention, but from what I see on local papers there was.
Some protesters did get through the security anyways which was most disturbing. If they can do it, so do terrorists.
What part of the city?
We live in Upper Manhattan. Near Fort Tryon park.
Yesterday we were told by someone of the Greenway entrance near our area. We were very happy to have found out about it.
Plan to go explore it today. Yesterday we found it shortly before our bike day was over.

You've got some great bike trails around there. I cycle there all the time. Never been over the George Washington bridge though, so that's my next conquest.
Crossing the bridge is a nice ride.
Also there is a park a few miles from the bridge. Don't recall the name, but it has some serious hills and it was pretty long.
Once I get back into shape I may venture back to it.
