Hi,

I have a 90's campy equipped 12 speed road bike. It currently has a 13-22 6 speed freewheel.

I want to swap in a 13-28 freewheel....possibly necessitating a different rear derailler because of the differenece in size of the biggest cog- 22 vs. 28.

I'm wondering how can I identify the rear derailler as short cage or large cage?

It is a campy design from the early 90's (I think)

It is a campy design from the early 90's (I think)If it's 12 speed, it's older than early 90s. As for cage length, you look at it. I don't think there were different cage length with campy 6 speed, but regardless, it should be good for a 26.
