Recreational & Family - Should I Buy a Xenon or LED Bike Light?

Not sure if this is the right forum to ask, but I need some recommendations on bike lights. My wife and I need lights for our cruisers. Is LED or Xenon better?

The lights will be more for safety than lighting the road. All of the riding we will be doing will be around town but street lighting is just okay in my ‘burg. We may ride at sunset, so we would be returning home after dusk

What about the Cateye mini LED lights shown below. Thanks!

Either of these will be a suitable option. It is only when it comes to lighting the road that the men get quickly seperated from the boys. Probably a bigger issue for you when comparing these is battery life. Most led's will surpass Xenon in battery life.
