Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Jamis Sputnik for ~550

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Sorry to start a random thread, im going to check out a sputnik for 550 right now. Wanted its an 09, not ridden often. Stock. Is it a good deal?
deal of the century if it's in good shape.
low miles does not mean good shape.

Good condition=good deal.
just picked up a new jamis, $500, has a san marcos seat and brake hoods which will be going on my road bike after I swap out the drops on this for some horns. Ended up being a dope deal.

Well done. Enjoy. Also, for every major new thing I buy for my bikes, I try to get one more person on a bike! Spread the stoke
Oh I am. I'm getting my friend on a new bike this week to start training for a tour. Pictures will come tomorrow. I checked out what looked like scratches, ended up just being gunk. its in great shape.

I finally got the chance to ride today now that schools out. I did my commute to work (2 miles or so) on it over hilly terrain, very fun ride. Tobad my other bullhorns dont fit the stem. Might swap stems til I sell my other bike just to have fun with it. I feel lucky, but now that I see Iro Mark V's on sale I almost feel like I made a mistake.

Looks really good and cheap...good find there!
Do you work at a shoes warehouse or something?

i own one, and i am admittedly a total shill...but trust me, at that price you did not make a mistake. i've hung a *lot* of nice parts on mine, and the frame is up to it.
looks like a totally stock '07 you've got there. have no regrets!

I really enjoy riding it. Can't do a commute again this week. I'm too busy but it's great even over the massive climbs. Which are easier on a fixie than my road bike. Probably because I have no choice but to grind them out fast.
did you get the sputnik and now are selling it for profit?
nope, im riding the **** out of it.

why do people saw off brake levers like that? I get that you're only using 1, but it seems really pointless. You're not making the bike look any cleaner, and it's something that, once you notice, you can't stop looking at.

I don't think it was "sawed off" They make dead levers like that. http://www.bikesomewhere.com/bikesomewhere.cfm/product/430/4132/20000?g=1

ya that looks like the same one...weird. Still not sure I like it on a 1 person bike, though
Yeah, its not my favorite thing in the world. I'm ditching the drops for a pair of Origin 8 black bull horns I found on CL for $17
I found these are more comfortable then my track drops which I hate riding with, but over all I feel for urban-fixed riding that horns are the most comfortable option, at least for me.
O I was just wondering because I saw the same pictures on cl earlier today and I was sorta interested, but mostly confused
