Tandem Cycling - RAAM 2010 on Tandems

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I know there aren't too many long distance folks here but since we are racing Tandems in RAAM this year I thought some of you might be interested. We are Team JDRF a mixed four tandem team. We will all be on Calfee tandems and are hoping to go very fast. You can follow us on our website or on the RAAM website. The solo riders leave on Wednesday and the teams leave on Saturday. Should be lots of fun!

Awesome! We hope to do FC 508 sometime in the future, but RAAM... you guys are crazy :)
Good luck, hope the conditions are on your side.
Have fun! May see you at the end. We're leading a tandem ride that coincides with the RAAM finish celebration in Annapolis (June 20).

My stoker and I hope to see you at the start!
Hey, come to think of it, my stoker and I have ridden a good portion of the distance of RAAM with two JDRF team members over the years...
We will be there to send team Bent Up Cycles off too.

Team JRDF has pulled ahead. Last night they were just 6 minutes ahead. As of Time Stop #23 (Ulysses, KS), they are 1 hr 7 min ahead of the next team in their class - still a lead of less than 1.6%.
Looks like Team JRDF finished this morning (Saturday, June 19th) and won their class.

Reversegear, I missed you at the start. :(:(
We had a great race and some awesome toussles with some of the 8-man/4-man and even one of the two man teams in the Rockies. They'd go riding by us up those long climbs like we were standing still then we'd hit the descents and pass them all back up. I think we were the rabbits for them to chase up the hills. They knew we were ahead and they could put their heads down and chase. You go a litttle faster when you have a prize right in front of you.
