Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Fixed gears are serious

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

That was seriously one of the best, most awe-inspiring things I've ever seen. No, wait...it wasn't.

Not quite sure if this is parody or not.
If this IS parody it's freakin' brilliant.
If this is to be taken seriously, then this is the fixed gear version of RAD.
I'm going to put the gears back on my Trek because I'm clearly not taking this FG thing seriously enough.
" British accessory designer, H by Harris has commissioned film maker Manny Bonett to produce a viral campaign for his new collection, Manouevre. The collection is based on - in the words of Harris - 'the fixed gear individual. Men and women whose lifestyle is on the edge". "
The FG bike is a Fashion statement, soon to be featured in your Esquire magazine.
it's got everything you could want in a fixed gear video...a girl, bunny hops, a parking garage, some euro looking ******bags and a black guy on a fixed gear...this'll be the next MASH for sure

mythbusters proved that you can polish a turd, and this is no exception. the cinematography was quite good, but the subject matter and "story line" were dreadful. i think it would have been much more successful if it had focused solely on the polo game (which i enjoyed) and cut all the suit-wearing hipsters doing tiny wheelies.

Not sure that I know a word to properly describe what I just witnessed. I think "terrible" comes close.

Haha, I was actually thinking that some people must have watched the video and thought, "oh, that's cool!" and then didn't comment because they noticed the, ahem, impartiality of the rest of the thread.

That was one of the stupidest things I have ever seen. And it was absolutely f-king hilarious.
I love how so many people know of random banana-related stuff that they always feel compelled to share when they see my username.

I was hoping it was some film student's project.
On the subject of mythbusters, we should write to them to test the myth that you are faster up hill on a FG than a normal road bike!

I thought the video was quite cool, but I thought maybe it had been made by some film student who had watched too many episodes of TopGear. The cinematography looks really similar!

You know, I don't have a problem with this sort of thing. That doesn't mean I don't think it's silly - because I do. But, silly is fun so what the hell. My ego isn't involved with my cycling. Cycling gives to me. It's restorative. While I love seeing "you" out riding and would definitely enjoy talking and riding with "you" for awhile I'm not part of any "culture" so someone doing something silly has no affect on me - beyond a giggle. So, next week when the type of bicycle I choose to ride is no longer "fashionable" I'll be perfectly OK with that. For now, fixed gets a little extra attention. OK. Nice.
You know, age has its' benefits. Long before I started riding fixed I had friends, was getting laid, had a good job, had a solid sense of who I am, etc.. It's just a bike and I just enjoy riding it.

I'm not, really. I just make jokes. I'm a firm believer/supporter of people being able to do whatever the hell they want.
