Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I've 1996 Litespeed Appalachian, 55 cm.
I'd like to change the front fork (Kinesis AL) to a steel fork with rack bosses..
Any recommendations/ideas or forks that have been used
1" head tube size required
Thanks Ricahrd
You will have to try to find out what the trail measurement on the original fork is and try to match it with a new one ifyou expect identical handling characteristics.
My only recommendation is to look at www.wiggle.com (http://www.wiggle.com) and search on steel forks made by Thorn. Both (wiggle and Thorn) are UK companies. There should be a range of 1" forks that come up on the search.

Checkout my profile to see my Litespeed and front fork swap to the Surly LHT fork. Also the folks at Litespeed are very responsive and helpful (2-3 day turn around).
Link to the Litespeed FAQ about Fork Rake - http://www.litespeed.com/current/faq.aspx?ac=vw&id=15
You will also need to determine the Axle to Crown distance to match.
