Hi, ive just purchased a trek 7300 fx (2004~5) and a giant hyde park (not sure of year) bike from ebay and plan to give one to a freind.
we plan to do the trans pennine trail (215mile) and obviously i want to keep the best for me.

There's little in it. The Trek appears to have a wider gear range. Both are fine for the TPT, which is mostly surfaced, I think. My preference is for the Giant, as I like the older bikes. Trek could be lighter. Keep the one which fits you best, or, the one with the least wear on the drive-train, or the one with the best resale value which is probably the Trek.

You're welcome.
It is called the 'Hyde Park'. Steel frame commuter. Your Google is broken.

Cheers for the info - still strugling to find a spec sheet though (must be a pre 2001 bike as giant archive 2001+ and its not in there).
...thats interesting though - steel frame. was advertised with aluminum
