Hybrid Bicycles - What to look out for when buying used trek 7.6 fx

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hi everyone, greetings from Singapore. I'm viewing a used 2007 trek 7.6fx later tonight, and was wondering if you experienced riders out there had any advice for what to look out for on the bike while given a short amount of time to view and test ride it.
Thanks and have a great day!
First thing I look over is the frame, make sure everything lines up, no cracks or signs of damage. Next, I look over the wheels to see how true they roll. I also look for overly greased or oiled hubs and joins. If it looks overly greased or oiled, wipe it off and test ride the bike, come back and look over it again to see if you can spot the oil drips. I once bought a bike with bad rear hub
Take the bike out for a long ride and test the brakes and shifters often. Keep your ears open.
Best wishes.
Hi Norboo, thanks for the advice. Anything to look out for regarding the wheels and spokes, as well as the shifters?

make sure it fits. straddle over the top tube, lift the bike up to your pubic bone with a good amount of pressure, and make sure you get at least 2 inches. make sure that the stem is not abnormally short or has a high rise.

You need to check the size of the bike against your height. When you shift gears, see if they shift smoothly without a clanking noise. Wheels need to spin straight and smoothly, with no wobbling. Check if the previous owner changed any of the original parts (see 2007 specs on trekbikes).

Make sure you know it is a 18 speed and not a 27 speed that was upgraded in the next model year.
