Hi!

I am a law student in the Washington DC area, and 75% of my commutes to and from school and work are done on my bike. I ride a 2006 Raleigh Cadent 2 and have few complaints. Poor as dirt, so I am stuck with it for at least another year or two. I guess I had better speak kindly of the bike or something else might break.

I've been snooping around on the forum the last few days. Having participated on other hobby/lifestyle forums in the past, I am looking forward to being a member here.

If anyone feels like pitching in their two cents, I have made a post about my hunt for a good, inexpensive set of panniers here (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?653098).

Welcome to BikeForums.
There's nothing wrong with a Raleigh Cadent, so don't put it down too much. :thumb:

Good point. I suppose I have to claim responsibility for some of the reliability issues, owing partly to neglect and partly to hard use. The bike was an upgrade - from a Pacific, I think - and I loved it from the first ride. Such a difference! So I don't want to demean the model is general. It really is a nice ride.

Thanks, rumrunn6. Well, before I started school I had a job that provided expendable income. Final big purchases were a decent bike and a reliable car, knowing that there would be no way of affording it while in school!
