I picked up this bike a while ago and fixed it up for my girlfriend but it's slightly too tall, and while test riding it I fell in love with the bike but it's too small for me. Idealy I would like to trade for something similar in a larger size. I was going to post it on CL for $225 and try to get $200. It has a mix of Deore XT and DX components, no rust and only a few minor scratches.

If I saw it come up on my local craigslist for that price, I'd at least go look at it-but I know a little bit about them. What does it say on the fork dropouts? Also, check out the curved chainstays-it's to raise the bottom bracket, there are fans of that frame out there. I have an '89 in parts at the moment, it has a full 'Deore II' group and is Tange Prestige tubing, traditional straight stays. Yours is newer, but I'm not sure the exact year. I'd at least try it for $200-225.

The chainstay design is not really to raise the bottom bracket as much as to have the bottom bracket at a normal height, but lower chainstays = less chain slap. At least that's what I remember of the hype back then.
I love it, but I'm terrible at guessing what people would pay for old MTBs. What year is that? 1990? 1991?

Yeah, I think it's a 1990. I was wondering about those chain stays, thanks for the info.

I bought one of those new in 1987 for $600 and sold it in 1991 for $350 and it was in perfect condition.

I have a 1983 Alpina Altima and an '83 Alpina Sport. I love them both.
