Introductions - Im new

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Ok, Im a high school student that has recently taken up biking. I had a low budget, but i picked up the dawes usa lightning dlx for 350$. The bike works like a charm and at least to me, seems like a 1000+ $ bike. (theree is actually a seperate thread all about this bike). I bike to school, and this summer im going to bike from schenectady NY, to Lake George in the adirondacks. That will be my longest ride, a modest 80 miles. I've just purchased an entry level spd pedal(shimano) for 33$ and a pair of 661 expert mountain ( i know i have a road bike but these were cheaper and i want to walk around pretty easier) bike shoes in preparation for this ride. Lookin forward to it and hopefully i can learn some things about biking in general from this forum.

Welcome to BF skibum. I lurked here for a few months before I joined, but after getting involved in a few conversations, I learned more about bicycles and cycling in a week than I had in many years riding.
No sweat about the mountain shoes, if they work and let you spin at a comfortable pace, they're the ones to have.
Enjoy!
