I saw a small snapping turtle on the local path here. I don't normally touch animals but this one I moved off the path back by the river.

Several rabbits, tons of prairie dogs, a couple of snakes, a pheasant, a doe and a Road Runner. 1st Road Runner I've ever seen. It crossed the road about 30 feet in front of my wife and I as we were testing out her new Fuji.

Don't be jealous, just keep your eyes open! Today was the first time I had ever set eyes on a weasel in the wild.

Thousands of scooters and cars, buildings, college students, old lady pushing a cart.....you get the idea. Check my location and you'll understand. I'm jealous!

- groundhogs
- bunnies
- finches
- blue jays
- cardinals
- red tailed hawks (and bonus sighting of a hawk eating a squirrel TWICE!)
- mourning doves

Pretty much all I do all day outside of work is look for animals. haha. People I know tease me because that's all I talk about. We sure don't have roadrunners here, but I might see a weasel someday! I think I saw a fox a month or so ago. Either that or a cat :(

Anyway congratulations, that's awesome!

Saw a very large 3-pt buck, three large noisy tom turkeys right in the middle of the path, couple of rabbits, and a few valley quail all in the same 1/4 mile section of the bike path.

The absolute coolest critter I have ever seen on a ride was while I lived in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Lived in a small town full of miners, families and hippies right across US 41 from nearly 1500 acres of Champion Forrest land. Tons of abandoned logging roads, an old copper era ghost town. You get the picture. I came hauling ass around a blind right hand bend and smack into the behind of a Bull Moose. Thought I was a gonner. He just sniffed the air, grunted and walked off into the bush. Thank God it wasn't the rut.

I saw a homeless looking dude on a bike going from garbage can to garbage can looking for plastic bottles to turn in for cash.
It was 4:45 AM, in the city, him and I were about the only ones out at that time.

Last fall I was on the MUP early AM just after sunrise, saw what I thought was a dog off in the distance, as I got closer I realized it was a coyote. There was 2 of them, one on each side of the path. I figured it was better to keep moving past them rather than stop and turn around. So I cruised between them, they just stood there and watched me.

I had a deer leap across the road in front of me, about 50 m ahead of me, on Sunday's ride.
