In keeping with Cudak888's head-tube thread, I just received my Holy Grail tool; the Park SS-1 Chainstay Straightener. I'm off to back over some bikes in the driveway to try it out!

Although I think it has a nice classic patina to it some people on this forum will tell you to strip and repaint it and get some reproduction decals. Just remember when in doubt stay with the original paint. It will enhance it's value to collectors

Hetchins owners watch out!

We should be able to drum up some business for you in the 'Finds' thread. Fellas, no more bent forks. From now we're holding our rulers against the chainstays!

I think an old touring bike would do best as you need alot of chainstay length to get the wavey pattern.

I have used this tool many times when I worked in shops, and consider myself pretty proficient in its use. I have been looking for one for home for years.

Now why hadn't I heard about that when I spent a month straightening a bent chain stay on my Holdsworth Typhoon! Looks great, please post details of how you get on with it.

I wonder if you could pull low spots out of rims with that.

You know, it might. Not a bad idea. I think it may be like removing a splinter with a pair of vise-grips, but without the proper tool...

There is another tool for that. I've seen it, locally. I think it is a VAR-built variant.

Didn't know there was such a tool. I passed on an inexpensive 520 the other day due to a slightly bent chainstay. Would have been the perfect candidate.

I used that tool back in my bike shop days.

Yeah, that might be the one I used. It sometimes worked.
