Southern California - LA Bike Path

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

The bike path was locked at Fletcher today. Had to climb through the metal poles. Just an FYI

Whats up with that?? Was it the metal gate that led out of the bike path to where the little rest stop was, or a gate that led along the path to Figueroa? I was planning on using the bike path to ride to work downtown this week - thanks for the heads up

Yeah. They closed it Saturday, even though no one was around working on it. I had to climb through the fencing next to the river, which is what a lot of cyclist were doing Saturday.

They put up one gate at the new end of the path but you can get on the path through the little park, I think it's Egret park. Anyways the gate is locked in the middle of the path at Fletcher. Although they did paint the graffiti on the new asphalt.

They also closed the Egret gate next to the park. It has a sign on it saying, "Do not Enter. Construction." But I still don't see anyone doing anything on the path. On the north end, they're still cleaning out the median in the river. But other than that, I haven't seen any construction on the path. I'll check on the Fig end tomorrow. Maybe they're building that "extension" to Figueroa.
They were working on the lights a week ago.....

Simple. The contractor who is in bed with whichever city official awards bids to probably doesn't do solar. Working for the government has jaded me so.

So is the path now open to the Home Depot by San Fernando and Figueora? (I posted a similar q on another thread re the bike path but no one responded).
It is complete....but was gated while some workers were working onthe lights...
You can easily go around the fence ...there were alot of people who did that last week....

Thanks! Do you happen to know if it's still gated?
No...I havent been back there in 2 weeks....I would hope not.....but this is LA DOT so it probably is.....but that didnt stop us from riding it!
There is also a hole in the fence on one of the side streets after Fletcher, forget which one it was but have seen people using it to access the path.

Any updates on the LA River path? Have they opened it past Fletcher (and if so how far does it extend now)?
Thanks

It is now open all the way to San Fernando Road (near the Home Depot). And the new part of the path is in great shape.

HUH? I was there a couple of days ago and the fence was still up by the little park on Riverside.

Not sure which gate you mean, but I rode straight through a few weekends ago. The only gate I had to open was at the park at San Fernando in order to exit.
