I used mine for:

exercise
road riding
just plain fun
errands

If I were to trade it in, it would be for another hybrid! :D

Well, that's because I already have a roadie and an mtb....

It's a great "Do It All Bike."

I use it on the road, on the MUPs, as a grocery getter, as a grandchildren retriever (pick 'em up at school), running errands, exercise, etc, etc, etc........

Exercise, road riding (didnt like drop bars/brifters at all), and just plain fun!

My sirrus is a decently quick bike (the Allez I had smoked it, but it was not so comfy), that is comfortable and a joy to ride. I will likely never go back to drop bars, but I do want to add bar ends because I miss that "riding on the hoods" feeling, its more comfortable on long rides. Probably because its a more natural hand position. I also like v-brakes for stopping power, road calipers were scary at best if I needed to come to a quick stop. Of course, my Sirrus is nothing more than a endurance road bike with a flat bar, v-brakes and more of mountain bike gearing...

All of the above, except commuting. I'd commute on it too save for the fact that me commute is longer that I would care to do every day and there is this lovely train line that runs near my home and my work. I don't go into the city but since I ride inbound trains in the morning and outbound trains in the evening I have to use a folder on the train.

Mountain bike, perhaps a 29er. I want a bike that can handle all kinds of roads and "improved" bike trails and light duty off road as well. A hybrid is perfect for my purposes, but I assume you aren't "allowing" that answer. A mountain bike would do nearly as well, maybe I will get one of those too....

Pissing off the roadies by passing them at 30 mph on something that looks like a mountainbike, wearing casual shoes, surfshorts and a T-shirt :D

Commuting not so much ... I work as a freelance-computer-repair-install-man and so I really need my car and tools to work.

Trade in? No freakin' way!
If Cancellara himself would offer me his timetrail-bike for it ... I would still refuse and keep mine.

I park outside of a club, lean on the bike with a powerbar and my coolest pose, but girls doesn’t seem interested, maybe I need a flasher color :innocent:

What powerbar brand/flavor do yo use? Maybe I need tighter bike shorts. :innocent:

I bought and sold many hybrids over the last two months. Flavor of this week is Jamis Coda, but can't seem to find my size.

I haul freight by bicycle for money during the week. I run errands on the weekend. Currently my hybrids are my only means of transportation, but I have a mountain bike I plan on repairing.

I did a little off-road riding last week, and a long ride a couple of weeks ago on pavement, but for the most part my bikes are used for transportation.

I'd trade my flat bar road bike for a drop bar road bike if I 'had to'. If I had to trade the workhorse hybrid for something other than another hybrid, I'd have to go for a hard tail MTB.

Cool. Around here "hauling freight by bicycle" doesn't even really exist ... yet you even get paid for it! ^^

Yeah that's my rig. Iit's a fun job, but hard work and not so good pay. I love it though. I carried 300 lbs up Capitol Hill on Constitution Ave. Friday. Man I thought I was going to die, but I just kept moving my weight from one pedal to the other and I kept reminding myself that I wasn't doing anything harder than what a soccer mom does in her step aerobics class, and before I knew it, I was at the top. :)

Then I had to try to convince Supreme Court Police that I should be allowed to deliver these boxes, because deliveries to Super Court are supposed to go to a site in Maryland to be screened and fumigated for nuclear, biological and chemical weapons and stuff. :(

Exercise, Riding on the bike trail and it's fun.

I doubt I'd get rid of my Cypress. For what I would get for it, I'd rather just keep it. A higher end flat bar road bike would be a fun addition for when I go myself. My GF is no speed demon so it would be useless riding with her. I rode my buddies Marin Point Reyes the other day and the speed was nice although I missed the frt suspension and my Terry Saddle. I'd also like to try a recumbent if I could afford one.

I'm just getting my hybrid up to speed (Gary Fisher Marlin, '96 I think).

I plan to use it as a commuter. I work from home, but it will be used for around town biking and some exercise. I'd like to take it out for a little bike camping, but we'll see if that happens.

I got my new bike for exercise and fun. I wanted something that would get me around the roads happily enough without sacrificing the ability to follow an interesting trail. :d
It'll also come in handy for the .5 mile commute to work of an evening when I get the job, letting me wake up as late as possible before work. :D Then I plan to get my riding in in the morning after work, hitting tow paths amd country lanes and getting my fitness up and waist line down.

If I had to trade, I'd probably go for a MTB, although I wouldn't mind being able to fit on a BMX again..

#1 is for excersise, first time in my life I have ever looked forward to or enjoyed any type of real excersise. I love my daily ride.
I would also say for fun, vacationing in the white mounntains in new hampshire this weekend and besides the family riding fun I have been keeping with my routine of riding 10 miles aday, it;s amazing taking an early am ride though the mountains..

First time I have ever comited to excersise and good health and have lost nearly 50lbs in 3months.

I guess if I had to trade it be for an upgraded hybrid ( currently have a 7.5FX) or road bike.

I'm at about -46lbs, on 3/22 I decided to try
To cange my Heath lifestyle, started with a 2000 cal
Daily diet and riding my 1995 specialized rockhopper
Mtn bike 3 days a week for 6 miles, after a few weeks
And seeing positive results I bought a better excersise bike ( trek 7.5 FX)
And changed my route to 10 miles a day. Goal is to loose 25 more.

That awesome, I started at around 245 or 250, lost down to 175, by biking and diet, now I'm hovering
around 180 to 185, but do not watch the cal intake like I should, but do bike A LOT more..: ) Richard

I started 3 years ago, lost the weight in the first year, and have kept it off for the last 2 years. I would like
to get back down to 175, but I would have to start watching the calorie intake more again.....Richard

yes watching calorie intake has been huge for me, I figure I was consuming 2500-4k caloies aday.
I am still amazed at how simple it was to change what i was doing wrong, I have hovered around 235-240 for the last 5 years, last summer and through winter I got up to 254 and just had enough of it, didnt really know what to do, then sitting on the couch on 3/22 I watched a story on one of the morning news shows about iphone apps and they showed a calorie counting app called loose it, I downloaded it and tried, then added bike riding for cardio and am down to 206 today..... I am looking to get around 180-190 myself, been 20 years since I was there...

I have Lupus. Cycling is the only exercise I've tried that doesnt make my feet and hands swell. The city built a 7 mi trail close to me, half dirt and half pavement. Back in April I bought a mtn bike and have put almost 500 miles on it. Two weeks ago the city finished paving the trail. Sat I bought a new 7.5 FX. I've put 90 miles on the FX since Sat. I think I'm addicted. Had a complete physical last week and my Doctor said my bloodwork looked the best it has in 10 years. She wanted to know if I changed my diet. My bicycles are the only change. Never knew exercise could be so much fun. Now I'm even worrying about it being too cold to ride this winter LOL. Dont wanna miss a day of riding.

MWS, I wouldn't worry about it being too cold in NC to ride. If it gets below 20 degrees here that is about my limit, higher if there is a wind. Of course that white stuff is what really puts an end to riding in the winter here.

I'm right there with you. I tried out an Allez, but just couldn't dig the feel of drop bars and brifters. My Sirrus Sport is just like having a slower road bike with a great flat bar feel. Definitely do some full sized bar ends. They totally transform the ride, and make hills a ton of fun.

http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/yy124/Almost_Green_Guy/Bikes/Sirrus/dsc08611.jpg

As for my hybrid biking, it's all road riding for exercise and fun. I also run every errand I possibly can.

At this point in time, I can't imagine ever trading it in for anything, other than maybe a more expensive version of the Sirrus. :-)
