Classic & Vintage - Identifying a colnago frame

Could anyone be of help identifying the following frame? I'm thinking about buying it, the asking price being 120 yoyos.

I haven't had much success finding a match yet, although I fear that Sheldon Brown had this frame in mind when he said; "There were some late 70's and early 80's examples that are built with the soul of an Italian Huffy. These sad examples are probably worth $ 675. The notable characteristic of these is a hideous seatstay attachment."

It looks like a mid 70's with some frame "update's" such as the TT cable guides, FD mount and drilled out rear brake bridge, and of course the ugly paint and decals.

If it was my size I would pay $120 for it without hesitation (if it hasn't been crashed) and then have it repaired/restored to period correct.

Is there a fork with it?

Some people feel the need to put ugly looking decals on otherwise pretty nice looking bikes it seems.

There's a chrome fork in one picture but it was very low quality so I couldn't make out any detail at all. Wasn't a straight fork in any case.

Sheldon didn't say that - Mike Kone did. That said, mid-70's makes sense, given the 1010-longs. Those dropout junctions look a little hinky to me, but then Colnago was probably whipping the brazing galley slaves pretty hard by that point.

My mistake. Ok, I'm probably not going to buy it then. The consensus seems to be not a particularly special frame and I've got another bike to be working on in the meantime.

VJP has it pretty much pegged. If that is a Colnago - and despite all the fakes, this does look like the genuine object - that's an early 1970's frame with a 1980's fade paint job on it.

It also looks as if the right-side dropout took a pretty hard hit at one time.

If this was a fake Colnago, it would be quite amusing to rip off the "your" and replace it with "my." Preferably move the whole phrase onto the downtube, if you get my drift.
