Touring - Good S24O sites for Southern California?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I was wondering if there is a website dedicated to S24O kind of touring in the Southern California area?

Living in a largely [over]populated area you can ride all day and not get away from tract housing and traffic jams, but there has to be some good places around.

I am taking my first "real" tour in the Spring and want to do as many overnight/weekend trips as possible between now and then. The closest bike camp site is Doheney State Beach. There are several other RV only "campgrounds" close by as well....

Not sure about Doheney but San Clemente has a hiker/biker camp. Further south San Elijo kind of has one. A few years ago I stopped to ask them about their hiker/biker camp and was told essentially if you look like bike tourer and not a vagrant they will let you stay in the camp.
