I don't get a lot of time to get away right now, baby, job, etc. Looks like as long as I am the perfect husband and father for 29 days or so I might be able to get day 30 and 31 away. Anyone know places around Walnut Creek, Benicia, Moraga, Concord, etc I can escape to long enough to sleep under the stars?

The guys at Rivendell seem to do a lot of s24o camping around Mt. Diablo. You might call there for some suggestions. Further south, state parks in the Santa Cruz Mtns are a possibility.

A nice down and back overnighter is from the end of the Caltrain line in Gilroy to Pinnacles National Monument and back the next day. There's a pool at the Pinn. campground, which is kind of nice.

Thanks I appreciate it. The guys at Rivendell seem pretty cool. I have met a few after going into the shop a few times.
I was not aware of the Pinnacles NM being so accessable via train. Thats a really good idea.
