As usual, right when I come close to deciding on a new bike, a new option pops up to confuse things. Walked into an LBS in an area I visit with work and they had a great deal on a 2003 Klein Q-Pro Carbon. I love Kleins and it feels good (but what can you really tell by riding around a parking lot!?), but it's such a light bike that I'm concerned about it holding up under my size (6'4", 230lbs). Any thoughts? Thanks, D

Don't know, never had a carbon.

I am 225, and I ride steel. I have heard that carbon can T bone a car, and suffer no damage.

However, a scratch can be like an infection, it may spread. I like 853 steelbikes. It will hold up, but for how long. E bay has a bunch of carbon bikes with small scratch for sale adds.

Carbon is new, not much history. I would love to have one, but I am a little sceert of carbon, the resin, not the fiber.

I am 6' and weigh 225 and have a 2003 QCarbon Team and it carries my weight no problem. I think you would have no problems from a stiffness perspective on that bike.
