I have a Globe Roll 1, and was wondering is it safe or even practical to paint hubs say with a powder coat?

Mask off the axle, nuts, and seals and you'll be fine. If they're chromed you might need to strip the chrome.

It's terribly unsafe and generally a bad idea. By painting your hubs, you're not only putting yourself at risk but also everyone within a 2 mile radius of you and your unborn children. Don't do it.

You could.

Thickness of the powder coat---even paint---might create an issue when you go to relace the wheel.
