Hi boys and girls!

So I have a trashed sachs huret eco RD on my old peugeot road bike. 5 gear freewheel, friction shifts.

I was thinking of upgrading/replacing on the cheap, but I dont know what alternative derailleur to get, and what would be compatible. Is it better to just replace with another eco (there are a few used going on ebay, seem to be okay condition).

Cheers

Hello welcome to the forums. since your Peugeot is friction shifting you can use most any RD for a replacement. you might find something like Shimano light action ot tourney will shift a bit better.

of course your Eco lasted this long.....

Hmm, I thought so. Though I think theres something about freewheel teeth that I need to pay attention to. But that's easy enough ;)

I think that eco lasted this long only because the bike spent most of its life in a friends garage xD

It seems the shimano's there are the shifters. Tbh, I like downtube friction shifts xD Do you think you could give me some RD recommendations or maybe point me in the right direction for what to look for? I feel kinda lost looking at the so, so many on ebay and elsewhere.
