Will it cause any trouble to ride a 1/8th chain on a rear cog meant for 3/32 chain? It's only going to be temporary - a couple weeks maybe. Thanks

Nope...as long as your chainline is reasonably straight. I'm assuming this is for a fixed or singlespeed setup. I've been running an 1/8" chain on a 3/32" chainring, 1/8" cog setup for a long time.....no problem.

Awesome. One more tangentially related question: should I worry much about chain types? Should I be looking for a track specific chain (even though I just ride a track bike on the street)?

I use the cheapest BMX chains on all my fixies.
I use the SRAM PC1 form my fixed and singlespeed
