other house residents are safe - there were no bovines harmed in the making of my empanadas...

these were from two different places nearby -

tonight was corn shells with chicken, and cheese and broccoli with amazing green hot sauce.

last night was cheese in an organic whole wheat shell and then corn with banana /nutella for dessert (and today's breakfast).

lordy that was yummy. I can barely move right now, however.

Recommend you eat seven more and let us know. Or at least eat enough so you can tell us the proper meaning of the word 'gavoon'.

How many empanadas can you make from one vegetarian?

The only time I've had empanadas was when I was in Buenos Aires almost 7 years ago. I've had a hard time finding them since. Then again, I live in a rural part of PA where the closest town has three intersections with traffic lights.

If there is hard boiled egg in it? One. I hate hard boiled eggs.

Anything other than empanadas with egg then I guess 5 before I happily go to the Big Empanada Stand in the Sky. There you can eat empanadas anytime you like.

My friend is from Chile and she is a masterful chef who often hosts little luncheons for friends and she makes the best empanadas I have ever tasted... and despite my dislike for hard boiled eggs she makes these taste good too.

I think indian cuisine has something similar.

I was describing them to someone at work this AM and mentioned lots of other cultures have near equivalents (yes, I am survived the night....just barely...didin't need much in the way of breakfast or lunch today, however).

Heh - I missed that awesome thread. And I have seen Jyo's face many times...usually struggling over a flat tire, as I am his bad luck charm!

I think this thread is better, simply because of your use of the word "gavooned"

Fry up some pork sausage, hamberger. Add sliced green and black olives, hardboiled eggs, raisins. Fold into a pastery shell, fry it up. See how long they last. Have an ice cold Quilmes to wash it down with.

This is why pandas are endangered... they serve them in little pastries at Mexican places and people run about gavooning them like there's no tomorrow!
