Seems like a ridiculously elaborate joke, somebody obviously spent a LOT of time and money building that thing. Although part of me really hopes it's just some sort of weird German humor...

I think the Chain is a bit loose. Adding drag and slowing the car down.

That is awesome. I'm thinking that so long as one puts a secure seat and harness belt on there, and perhaps air bags (?), that thing could be pretty safe on the road with motorists. I wonder what size gearing one would need to get that thing to highway speeds, and how many gears it would take to make the transition possible? Actually, with the light weight it may be prone to flipping around if it were hit at high speeds.

I seen this posted on a recumbent forum several weeks ago.

Maybe with an electric power assist, say around 750 watts, this thing could probably move close to "city speeds".

I can just imagine putting 4 massive hub motors on, going cruising, and some jerk sits on a fender..... looks great but with all the tiny pockets rather than a mirror finish; I tend to wonder about materials used.

I love the fact that the "parking brake" is a velcro strap around the hand brake lever :D

pedal powered. 4 sets of pedals, of course .

No, a car would squash this thing like a bug, not matter what kind of harness you strapped yourself to the seat with. Air bags would explode the vehicle around you. No amount of gearing would allow one person to get this thing up to highway speeds. The record set for highest speed bike is set using a velo-mobile and it's less than 90mph. That speed is only attained to set the record.

Yea to get up to highway speeds you need something with the frontal area of a pencil.

Some look at this as though he takes a high performance vehicle (Porsche) and makes it into a low performance vehicle (pedal power).

I see it as taking an efficient high performance vehicle (recumbent) and weighing it down unnecessarily while giving it ridiculous aerodynamic drag and killing the handling.

I get that it's a joke...but I think it's at the car's expense.

I wonder what the legality of this thing is. Hah!
