Sunday was a great day in Nevada City for the 50th annual Nevada City classic. The weather was great and the racing was very good in every class.
The surprise of the day came when the race announcer was calling the Pros to the line just prior to the start of their race. The crowd watched as Floyd Landis rolled to the line followed by a very loud chorus of boos. I couldn't tell if he was wearing a "Dopers Suck" jersey or not.
The Pros raced for 90 minutes and Landis hung with the lead group the entire race and as the last lap began he was in 1st place. The crowds excitement was very high and when the group came to the finish line it was 1st Ian Boswell ( Bissell ), 2nd Paul Mach ( Bissell ), 3rd Zachary Davies ( Groove Subaru Cycling team ) , and 4th Floyd Landis ( No team ).
I'm not sure if Landis will ever be sponsored again but he rode pretty well yesterday.
Hah. Yeah. I did the Cat 3 race and I was standing with a knot of beat up racers, just licking our wounds as it were, when they made the introductions. When they said Landis there was just silence in the group and some headshaking.

I was taking pics of one of the races when Floyd rode by me on his bike. I did a double take then thought, "Can't be... he wouldn't come all the way up here to watch a race." (He was in regular street clothes.) I almost tweeted about the medicated Mennonite doppleganger, but never got to it. During call ups, the second they said the rider was originally from Pennsylvania, I knew it was Floyd (I can't believe I didn't see him standing there since he was right behind Burke in my photos of the call ups).
My favorite shot for the day (well... honestly, my favorite cycling shot ever, beating out my podium shot of Dave Zabriskie.)

The rest of my photos are here (http://www.flickr.com/photos/49521477@N02/sets/72157624202633267/). (Well, the men's pro/1/2 group. I took over 1000 shots and I haven't gotten to editing the other groups yet.)

Awesome photos. As for Landis, meh let him race. Honestly his Pro career is over, so I am guessing he is just doing it for enjoyment now.

He actually did quite well, though you wouldn't have predicted it after looking him. Looks like he may have put on a little bit of weight. Though, he never did have that stick of a climber's build, did he?
