My bike (Trek Valencia+) really doesn't look like an ebike so when I scoot up a big hill or bridge, everyone seems to take it as a challenge. This is particularly true if I'm wearing one of my 5 Boro Bike Tour jerseys. Mostly I wear cheap Target brand wicking shirts though.
Now, I bought the ebike specifically to deal with steep hills and headwinds, so I don't feel too badly about zipping up the hills and watching in the mirror as everyone else starts hammering up the hill. I figure that I'm doing everyone some good by providing the pace vehicle.
It's all fair though. They usually pass me going downhill since I'm generally in battery recharge mode.
