Foo - East Coast Earthquake!!

I've never felt one! Building moved and rumbled back and forth - I have a sign hanging from the ceiling that moved wildly back and forth - and when it ended - a bunch of walked out into the foyer - all saying "DID YOU FEEL THAT??"


USGS: 5.5 magnitude earthuake strikes Canada

[Updatd at 2:16 p.m.] The quake struck at 1:41 p.m. near the borders of Ontario and Quebec provinces, the USGS said. It was about 12 miles deep.

[Updated at 2:15 p.m.] CNN affiliate WDIV in Detroit, Michigan is reporting tremors were felt in the metro area of Detroit. Other tremors have reportedly been felt in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Cleveland, Ohio. CNN affiliate WFSB in Hartford, Connecticut reported that some residents in Connecticut felt shaking. CNN affiliate WMUR in Manchester, New Hampshire reported that residents in New Hampshire also felt the tremors.

[Posted at 2:10 p.m.] An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.5 struck Wednesday in southern Canada, the U.S. Geological Survey reported Wednesday.

The smaller ones are kind of fun, aren't they?

Guess it plugged up the 911 center.

Oh and here's a sure sign of an East Coast noobs to an earthquake ----- my college issued a college wide broadcast that if there was another they were going to evacuate us. :D

My friend in Toronto said the second tremor was worse - she works in a bldg in the entertainment district and she's on the 10th floor - guess bricks were falling off the building onto the many people below.

Joy woke up. I slept right through it.

Oh wait, ok. Somethings weird. Joy woke up early this morning and said she felt an earthquake. Neither of us felt anything this afternoon.

Had an earthquake in MN several years back (apparently, we are on a true fault line that doesn't do much...for now) and we thought it was just a train going by since we lived next to heavily used railroad lines.

After growing up with heavy trains for 15 years, every few moments, it would be neat to feel a real earthquake!

Didn't feel a thing, but other people in the area said they did. I live about 5 hours from the epi-center.

I think that one was centered in Blue Mountain Lake.

My wife and I were sitting in front of the garage grilling hot dogs and I felt it. I said "that was an earthquake" It was barely preceptible though. Sure enough a few minutes my daughter called from the hospital (see grandaddy thread) and asked if we felt it. We live 60 miles south of Rochester.

I'm still waiting for my First California Earthquake. Sacramento doesn't get ones you can actually feel very often...
