BMX - I'm Back , BMX tips needed....

Hi folks,
used to quite a bit of BMX,15 yrs ago...then for some reason got into road racing doing 10 miles a day every day for about 1 & 1/2 years, mad :rolleyes:

Anyways gave it a miss until a couple years ago ( 30 now) been on MTB for last 2 yrs , decided too heavy and big, so ordered a SE Mauler 2 2004( they any good ?) and wondered where can I go to find like step by step guides to doing tricks, I can do a few, but have a bet with a mate, who will eat his left testicle that.....apparently : :eek: ;

If i can do a 360 spin as I jump of a (square) speed bump and land it carrying on the other side.

Reckon shouldn't be to hard, ( or have I been watching too much 527 Extreme channel?) don't get bike til next monday thou - mail order.

Should always ask and check before you buy, so no comments on your bike.

Got bike yesterday, built tonight and out for 1/2 hour, hard work, but sitting here with a smile on may face, manuals are wicked, except gonna take a lot of practice, managed a few wobbly metres,so...

* How do I know best set up for my bike, I guess what feels comfortable, bars are stock @ 26", so reckon they need to be 24, and
* how far forward with bars , after 1/2 hour riding, reckon that could affect jumping / front end handling in general a fair bit.

Bar width is personal preference - DO NOT OVERCUT! There is another topic on bar cutting, I recommend a pipe cutter and removing at most 1/2" from either side to start with.

Bars are NEVER forward of vertical (Chicago style). They are somewhere between straight up and down and at the same angle your forks are at. That gives you about 15 degress for you to decide where you like them. Mine are just under being inline with my fork. So, about 80 degrees. But somewhere between 75 and 90 degrees and never forward of that.

If you don't have the length you want you can get a longer stem, but really you will get used to your bars wherever you end up putting them.
