Manufacturer, Retailer, Survey and Consumer Feedback - older e-bike users?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hi,
I'm a student of industrial design and designing an electric bike for older (baby boomer-ish) potential e-bike users. It's a 3-month project being sponsored by Sram and Fuji, among others, and I was wondering if there were any e-bike users over 40 years old on this forum who would like to answer some questions via email or phone. I would really appreciate it, and it would provide very helpful guidance on where the design should go.
Thanks,
Eddie

Hey there!
I am over 40 and over 40 is not old! Over 45, well, that is pushing it.
Now that we have accurately bracketed my age within a 5 year window, I have built an e-bike. However, for my needs it was not ideal. I prefer my recumbent (hmm... recumbent rider, over 40, I bet he has a beard... why yes, I do). At some point I will add an assist to it. I haven't gotten around to doing so yet.
Feel free to message me ir ask any questions I may be able to answer right here.

I will be turning 56 this year. When I was still working I rode my hub motor equipped bike to work every day spring to Fall for 2 years.
I have gone back to a regular bicycle where I am now, as it is a lot flatter ground. Go ahead and ask away....

I'm 54, have ridden 75mi a week for 3 years. I've left my car out of state, at my summer camp, and use e-bikes as my primary transportation. Would thoughtfully contribute.
