Northern California - To the guy that hit me on the golden gate bridge.

Monday night June June 21st probably shortly after 7pm. If anyone knows this guy, or heard about him, put us in contact.

I was doing a nice little recovery ride and the wind was intense, suddenly out of no where from behind me I hear some guy yelling, next thing I know he flys past clips my bars while trying to pass me in the narrows at high speed, didn't call it out or anything, I go down, slide for about 7feet into one of the big boxes.

He stopped and helped me up and put my chain back on which I appreciate, but seriously, bad form on the bridge. My left leg is totally rashed up, my rear skewer, left shifter, pedal, and saddle are all scratched up, luckily no frame damage. I hit my head on the railing and I think I was in shock as I can hardly remember anything about the guy (there's red paint on my helmet). I destroyed a pair of Rapha gloves, and scuffed up my bib shorts, but am lucky I'm not really hurt. Last way I expected to eat it was getting hit from behind by another cyclist, but in hindsight I'm pretty bummed out and out some decent cash for something that wasn't my fault.

If you're gonna pass people on the bridge, don't try it in the narrows, and call it out.

I crossed that bridge with my kids a couple years ago. just curious what "the narrows" means. also were you on the roadway or the pedestrian path? I found it kind of scary just doing it on the pathway with the kids and would never imagine being on the roadway. I suppose now as an adult and experienced road rider I might try it.

Did he hit you from the back? Normally if wheels make contact, it's typically the one on the back who falls (as the back wheel of the front bike "lifts" the wheel of the rear bike off the ground).

Some parts of the bridge are under construction on the bike side, and some are just far more narrow then others.

He was going much faster then me and kinda just went right through the left side of my bars. Don't think it disrupted him so bad as he was going much faster and also his arms were better situated for support by the nature of coming from behind me.

I rode across GG bridge once after a crit in SF. That was scarier then racing on potholed filled streets of SF. lol

It's a fun ride, just thinking you are riding across the GG bridge, a national icon. But in reality, it's way too crowded with tourists (at the slow, ignorant end), and racer boys (at the rude, riding-too-fast end). If I'm in the mood to play dodgeball, it can be fun navigating all the obstacles, but for the most part, I'm just glad to survive the trip.
