someone told me the size of the wrench is what matters....
if its 1/2 the wrench size is 1/2 and same for 9/16
true or not?

3 piece cranks have 9/16, 1 piece use 1/2 and I can't remember what 2 piece usually use, but I think its still 9/16

I think he means the spindle size...

If you have ONE piece cranks, you have a 1/2 inch spindle (smaller) on your pedals.

If you have THREE piece cranks, then they accept only 9/16 inch (larger) spindles.

Do you mean to ask what size wrench you need? Most use a 15mm today.

Cheers

ya i think its pretty dumb how if u wanna put a bike together good u have to use all this metric crap, i used normal wrenches and it stripped alotta my bolts

why wouldnt you just get metric wrenches, you'll save money buying two setys rather than having to replace all your stripped bolts. The metric system is better anyway.

well I live on a farm and all our wrenches and other tools are in our shop, and since our tractors and other equipment use normal wrenches, thats all we got, plus im a little down on money to buy a whole new set
