Eastern Canada - are there more detailed maps for route verte?

I was wondering if there are more detailed online maps for route verte besides routeverte.com? because the routeverte.com online maps only show a vague area of where we can go. no street names or anything.

I'm more interested in parking the car overnight in longuieul and ride along to chambly for lunch and stay overnight at st jean sur richelle.

So i'm wondering if anyone in the area know where I can park in longuieul that's close to the route verte so we can head off to it right away. I'm going with the wife so we would prefer to not be on the road but on a separate path, which is why I've chosen the south part of montreal since it is labelled as "sur piste" which probably means separate track.

Yes. There is a book, "Cycling in Quebec" with more detailed maps http://www.velo.qc.ca/english/index.php?page=publications.

I have the 5th edition, the latest is the 6th. The maps show the road quality, level of traffic, speed and whether there is a shoulder.

If you go there, it's well worth the $20 or so.

There is a bike path passing the parking lot, leading you to the Route Verte. The Route Verte follows the railway tracks from where I stopped plotting, directly to Chambly.

Thanks Andrew this is some awesome details! I'm wondering about the shopping center though wouldn't they just tow my car for being there overnight? I'm not sure about the rules of the city.

Since I work at the east corner of Saint-Hubert airport, I just went to that shopping centre during my lunch break. I saw no signs warning that cars would be towed. It isnt a busy shopping centre.

OpenStreetMap has some of the route marked, they are easiest to see using the OpenCycleMap overlay (http://www.opencyclemap.org/?zoom=9&lat=45.27843&lon=-73.61388&layers=B000).

at least it's supervised and from there I can connect to montreal's extensive cycle routes with the opencyclemap to hook up to the route verte. Wish Toronto had such an extensive cycle roadways like Montreal, it's not even close!

I led a tour in the opposite direction, staying in St-Jean Sur Richelieu, along the Chamby Canal then turning west through Montreal. I just got the book, "Cycling in Quebec" and it's got everything you'll need. Maps are excellent and all services are listed.

We were on holiday returning (in our car) from New Brunswick on our way back to Ontario. In Riviere du Loup, we decided to take Hwy # 132 instead of the main highway to get to Quebec City. Hwy 132 meanders along the St. Lawrence River. As it turns out it is part of the Route Verte, where there was a bike lane most of the way. We must have seen over 100 touring cyclists in a 200 kilometre span. What a beautiful place to cycle! There are quaint small towns that dot the route every 10 kms or so. Most of the towns are picturesque and interesting, and there was even an arts festival going on the weekend we were passing through. I hope to make it there again, but definitely by bike, not by car.
