Hi Guys,
I have a problem, and I think it must be a pretty common one.
When I traveled last with my Surly LHT, I found that I could not access the stem face plate bolts because of the HBB mount [Ortlieb], and I removed the stem from the steerer tube. Was not happy with that as it requires more re assembly, and I almost lost the brake thingie on the cable hanger.
So, any solutions? Other than mounting a second stem, which I am not too keen on.
Another question. If you remove the stem from the steerer tube, and leave the rest loose [what I mean is that there is now a 40mm gap between the spacers and the steerer cap so the fork moves up and down freely], can you lose bearings from the headset?
